A lot of small businesses may already have a website, but if it is their first and they have had it built on the basis of “we just need a website because you have to have one nowadays, don’t you”, that website might just be basic. It might just contain static information about the company and most likely, they will not have the ability to update it themselves.
More than likely its limitations will be based on the prohibitive cost of having a content management system at the time the site was built, or simply that the company didn’t really need any more functionality then.
But many small businesses, like I.L. Priddy Plumbers, now seem to be wanting more from their website. Thanks to WordPress they can have as much functionality as they want for a very reasonable cost. I was able to convert and develop the small family business website for them in a day. And, as I charge a lot less than a banker, you can see that we are talking hundreds, not thousands. For a state of the art, content management small business website, that’s great value.
